Feb 23, 2018 12:00:00 AM • Author: John-Peter Veldkamp

As of the beginning of 2018, Ximedes has joined the ITxPT association. The ITxPT association was launched in 2013, and aims to implement working standards and practices for plug-and-play IT systems used on board public transport verhicles and back offices. Currently the organisation is attracting a European wide interest by a broad variety of companies, now totalling over 50 members.

Why Ximedes has joined the ITxPT association

Ximedes aims to share its knowledge and experience with the ITxPT members, in order to accelerate the uptake in Europe for this standardized IP based platform.

For one of its Dutch customers, Ximedes has designed and built a Generic Vehicle Architecture, based on the prEN131419-7. The platform covers the network topology, basic network services, a system overview, addresses schematics and the basic module architecture. There are a number of clear advantages of implementing the technical specifications of the prEN13149-7. For the Public Transport vehicle operator, it will be easier to:

  • Integrate new services and develop new components;
  • Save cost and minimise risk on the on-board integration of new and equipment and services;
  • Increase effciencies on the operation and maintenance of the on- board equipment and services;
  • Provide up-to-date, dynamic intermodal passenger services, based on intermodal information

VISIT US AT IT-TRANS (6 – 8 March ’18) in Karlsruhe, for a demonstration of the Generic Vehicle Architecture platform, or send us an email (info@ximedes.com) if you require more information.

About the ITxPT association

The mission of the ITxPT Initiative is to support the deployment of standards and practices for onboard plug-and-play of IT-systems for public transport and the relevant back-office features. The ITxPT initative leads a joint effort to feed, support, promote and contribute to the evolution of the standard TS13149 parts 7/8/9. The ITxPT organisation works closely with the CEN/CENELEC standardization group by providing returns of experiences from technical implementations on the ITxPT platform.
